Start with the file you actually intend to import
Keep the original file. Choose a small representative file for your first check, especially if it contains unusual encodings or multiline fields. TabularGate processes CSV and TSV files, or pasted delimited text; it does not open Excel workbooks, PDFs, ZIP archives, or databases.
Upload a file or paste CSV text
Paste mode is useful for a short excerpt. Upload mode checks the bytes of the file, including its encoding. Try the examples before sending your own data.
Confirm delimiter, encoding, and header settings
Auto-detection is a starting point, not proof of the intended format. If the preview is one wide column or characters look wrong, choose the settings explicitly and run again. Turn off the header option when the first record contains data.
Run the check and review the issues
The job moves from queued to processing to a completed result or a specific failure. A completed job can still report invalid CSV. Record numbers start at 1 and include the header when one is present. Source lines count physical lines, so multiline fields can make these numbers differ.
Choose any changes deliberately
Whitespace trimming, removal of empty rows or exact duplicates, and spreadsheet formula escaping are opt-in. They may change values or record counts. Review the reported change counts before you use the output.
Download and verify in your destination
Download the available CSV, JSON report, or issues CSV. Use the destination's own import preview to check its required fields, business rules, types, and field mapping.
What the results mean
| Result | What to do next |
|---|---|
| Passed selected checks | Review the preview, then confirm destination-specific requirements. |
| Warnings | Read each warning and decide whether it matters to the receiving system. |
| Errors | Correct the source or selected settings and create a new check. |
| Processing failed | Read the failure reason. Check format and size, reduce the file if appropriate, or report the job ID. |
Repeat a check with Pro
Save parsing options, cleanup choices, and column rules under a recognizable name. Load that profile for the next delivery. A profile is a saved configuration; it does not schedule automatic uploads or monitor external folders.
A successful parse does not establish that the values are true, complete, or suitable for a business decision. Review the contents and your destination's rules.
